Killed by political correctness – Mister Wong is dead
This is one of the stories which make me sick. The social bookmarking site Mister Wong had to change it’s logo because a group blog of Asian American bloggers in the USA felt offended by the cute graphic (my opinion) Mister Wong used and a slogan like "ping pong, king kong, Mister Wong". (not so witty maybee, but well..) Allegations to be racist are counterprodutive when you expand globally.
Not long ago, after Mister Wong had launched in China, I was talking about the service with a good friend of mine. She is tech writer for a big chinese newspaper and tested Mister Wong. No word, that she felt offended, the contrary. She liked the site, it’s functions and the logo. She said Mr. Wong looked like one of her teachers in university.
For me it is political correctness bullshit. Talking of stereotypes, playing the racist card, getting “INCREDIBLY FUCKING ANGRY” – where is the authors self-esteem? I can laugh when people on the chinese country site point on my long nose and girls giggle in their hand. I hope you have got all the attention you wanted on the back of a good service. Shame on you, Ernie!
Oh, and just to let you know: I have many good friends in China and all over Asia. They are so much more relaxed than you…
Here is the entry on 8asians, here on mashable, the excuse of Mister Wongs CEO and here the opinion of Nicole Simon.

at first; strange “story board” !
but this seems to have an enormous effect,
the “brand” must change so also this logo too ??
I am curious about this process …
oh mann.
Hi,
You use a funny picture from one of the chinese movie stars.
As a chinese, I didnt feel the logo offended, and I even didnot think this is a big race problem.
I took that photo in Shanghai. No, the logo was not offending at all.
